Recently I had the chance to spend some time with the wonderful staff from Evolve. It was during a staff retreat at Typo Station that I had the opportunity to photograph the members. The shoot was a result of just having fun with the subject. Something I always enjoy.

How do you do a publication on the best print in Australia. This is how. You design and print a book that is as good if not better than anything inside of it.

This project that I photographed was a technical exercise in copy work. Lighting had to be perfect. The reward was I got to talk all day (to the art director) and I got to shoot a couple of fantastic portraits. Even better than this was the way the portrait shots were interpreted into an image by the designer. It was Dean Gorrisen from Room 44 that made the shot even better by adding some digital effects and a nice bit of retouching to create a final image perfect for the book.

My style is often clean and neat. I like the lighting to do all the work and be seductive.

Attended another “Les Walkling” seminar last night which was hosted by my studio (Blue Tree Studios). Les is like listening to Dr Karl and the cast of “Big Bang Theory” all in one. You are taken on  a journey which makes you think about your own work.

The night was about retouching however I found it to be more about emotional enhancement. We learnt how to simply adjust some numbers to correct an image?? I really cant explain it any other way.

Have a look at my before and after shots. If you cant work out which image is correct send me a message.

As a photographer it is always great to see your work really big on display. It also brings back the memories of the shoot and reminds you exactly why you need to put in so much hard work for the result.

I have joined the latest Studio in Melbourne. Blue Tree Studios is a great mix of talent and comfort. We have a variety of Photographers all with different interests and skill. This mix is inspiring and helps on all levels of creativity. There is also an in house retoucher, “Nick Duell” and a couple of sponsored emerging photographers.

Im always looking for that different angle on the same subject. A city has many unique views that can be often used to tell different stories. With every chance I will photograph the view with careful composure. Usually this is in the middle of a shoot when I have been distracted from what Im doing. This distraction is a good thing for Photographers, it gives you more opportunity to see your surrounds.

Being able to see first hand the dedication and care of the Regis staff in Mildura, I was able to see the amazing work that these people do each day.
